One of my favorite stories from 2021 was that of a lovable pittie named Mr. Bubbles and his incredible journey to become Bear.
Mr. Bubbles was first brought to the Animal Protection Society of Durham as part of cruelty case in November 2019. Over the next 15 months, the staff, volunteers and his foster family worked to heal his scars and give him the support and love he needed to be the dog he wanted to be. Once his case was over, Mr. Bubbles was finally eligible for adoption.
After waiting over a year, Mr. Bubbles met his forever family. Tamika and her son Taquan fell in love with Mr. Bubbles as soon as they met him. They were so excited to bring him home, that they actually couldn’t sleep the night before. A few weeks later, I stopped by to visit the family and take some photos for a Happy Endings story. Mr. Bubbles had a new lease on life as well as a new name, Bear. Bear was no longer in danger, no longer hungry and scared. Now, he is living a happy life with a family that loves him and he is able to love back. There really is no better happy ending.
